The public is being advised against joining the lines to pay respect to the sacred Devnimori relics at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo. The display of these sacred relics of Lord Buddha began on February 4. People can visit the Gangaramaya Temple to venerate the relics until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. With many devotees still waiting to honor the relics, the Police have asked the public not to form new lines for safety and to help manage the crowd better. The Sacred Devnimori relics of Lord Buddha were found during excavations in the 1960s at the historic Devnimori site in Gujarat, India, and this is the first time they are being taken outside of India. A delegation from India, including Madhya Pradesh's Governor, Mangubhai C. Patel, and Arunachal Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein, arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (September 9) to take the relics back to India.
