President Anura Kumara Dissanayake visited plantation workers on the Nanu Oya–Radella road this morning (11) and had a friendly conversation with them. The workers greeted the President warmly upon his arrival and thanked him for raising their daily wages. In interviews with the media, the plantation workers shared that President Dissanayake is not only the leader who improved their wages but also the first Head of State to come and see them to address their concerns. Additionally, President Dissanayake is set to travel to Nuwara Eliya to launch the Central Province segment of the “A Nation United” national campaign. He will participate in several events there, according to the President's Media Division. This campaign was started to combat the problem of illegal drugs in Sri Lanka. The issue of drugs has been recognized as a significant challenge for the up-country community. The aim of the program is to protect the community from this threat through a broad awareness initiative that includes all involved parties while also improving their social and economic conditions, the PMD noted. The Nuwara Eliya event will also honor 62 police officers for their important work in drug-related raids. Copyright ©2026 Ada Derana. All rights reserved.
