Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya met with a delegation from the European External Action Service to discuss ways to enhance the long-standing relationship between Sri Lanka and the European Union. This meeting took place at the Prime Minister's Office. They talked about ways to boost economic cooperation, trade, and investment. During the talks, Prime Minister Amarasuriya expressed gratitude for the European Union’s prompt help to Sri Lanka after the recent cyclone and for its ongoing support during difficult times, according to the Prime Minister's Office. Additionally, Sri Lanka and the European Union will hold the 27th Session of the EU-Sri Lanka Joint Commission in Colombo on the 12th. This important meeting will gather senior officials from both sides to assess and improve their partnership in various areas, including governance, human rights, trade, development cooperation, and other key bilateral and regional issues, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Joint Commission will be co-chaired by Aruni Ranaraja, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, along with Paola Pampaloni, Acting Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service. The visiting EU delegation will also engage with senior Sri Lankan officials to discuss collaborative methods and specific steps to strengthen their ongoing partnership, the Ministry noted.
