Sri Lanka's Foreign Affairs Minister, Vijitha Herath, has thanked the Government of Pakistan for agreeing to hold its T20 World Cup match against India in Colombo. In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Herath expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Pakistani government, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their positive response to Sri Lanka's request. He also recognized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and sports officials for their support. Herath called the decision a sign of goodwill, stating it shows “sportsmanship, friendship, and the strength of our bilateral ties.” Additionally, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for making sure that the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match at the T20 Cricket World Cup takes place on schedule. In his message on X, President Dissanayake noted that Sri Lanka, as a co-host of the tournament, appreciates the efforts of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and all involved in making the match possible. The Government of Pakistan confirmed yesterday that it will play the important T20 World Cup match against India in Colombo on February 15.
