The Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) has secured a 90-day detention period to question two members of the infamous 'Ava Gang' linked to a murder case. The suspects had previously escaped to India but were arrested by police at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) when they returned to Sri Lanka. Reports indicate that these Ava Gang members, who were based in Jaffna, fled after a murder in the Manipay area back in 2016. Interpol had issued 'Red Notices' for their capture. Once they arrived at BIA, they were taken into custody and transferred to the CCIB for further questioning. Initial investigations show that the suspects were involved in a scheme that provided hired gunmen and had ties to drug traffickers.
