The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has announced that if the government does not respond positively to their concerns within the next 48 hours, they will escalate their ongoing trade union action. This decision was made during a GMOA Central Committee meeting held today (28). The Executive Committee was given full power to decide on future steps. Important resolutions were made at the meeting, including the continuation of the current trade union actions. As part of this, doctors will stop giving prescriptions that advise patients to buy medicines not available in hospitals from outside pharmacies. Additionally, GMOA members will not take part in health camps organized by political parties. The Central Committee also decided against being involved in the planning or building of hospital wards and units that do not have enough medical officers.
