Police have found that the shooting death of a 28-year-old man in the Tsunamiwatta area of Ambalangoda on September 27 was likely linked to an extramarital affair. The incident took place during a party at a private home, where the victim was shot by two men. He suffered severe injuries and was taken to Balapitiya Base Hospital, where he later died from his wounds. Authorities reported that the attackers used a 9mm gun in the incident. The victim was said to have connections with an underworld gang member named “Saman Kolla.” However, initial investigations suggest that the reason for the shooting was personal, not related to gang activities. According to the police, the victim had a close relationship with the wife of Lalantha Prithiraj, who is also known as “Lala,” a gunman linked to another underworld figure, “Karandeniya Sudda.” It is believed that the woman's husband carried out the shooting as revenge. Additional reports indicate that Lalantha Prithiraj, who is currently incarcerated, may have organized the murder from prison.
