An individual participating in a hunger strike organized by a group of Development Officers in front of the Presidential Secretariat has been hospitalized. A woman involved in the strike was taken to the hospital by a 1990 ambulance service after she became unwell, as reported by Ada Derana. Four Development Officers, including the woman who was hospitalized, have been on a hunger strike since yesterday, calling on the authorities to integrate them into the teacher service after working in schools for seven years. Earlier today, tensions flared between the protesters and the police. The protesters set fire to a box marked “Funeral of Justice,” prompting police to order its removal immediately. When police informed the protesters that they were blocking the pavement, a heated confrontation occurred. A group of Development Officers, who claim to have been teaching in schools for seven years, began their satyagraha yesterday morning (26) in front of the Presidential Secretariat, seeking to be made permanent teachers. However, in the absence of any response, four members of the group decided to go on a hunger strike.
