Sri Lanka's export earnings for 2025 have reached US$ 17,252.15 million, surpassing the previous year's figures, according to data from Sri Lanka Customs. The Export Development Board (EDB) reported that the export sector maintained positive growth in 2025, with a year-on-year increase of 5.6%. In December 2025, total exports, which include both goods and services, amounted to US$ 1,490.49 million, marking a year-on-year rise of 3.95%. This strong performance highlights the resilience of Sri Lanka's export sector and the success of policies aimed at improving market access and global competitiveness, as noted by the EDB. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman and CEO of the Export Development Board, commented that Sri Lanka's export earnings for 2025 reached US$ 17,252.15 million, achieving over 94.79% of the set export target. He emphasized that this performance showcases the strength and competitiveness of Sri Lanka's export sector, bolstered by the recovery of key markets, consistent production capacity, and effective export development strategies. In December 2025, merchandise exports grew by 5.88% year-on-year, totaling US$ 1,166.60 million, based on provisional data from Sri Lanka Customs, which includes estimates for gems, jewelry, and petroleum products. For the entire year of 2025, merchandise export earnings were US$ 13,579.38 million, reflecting a 6.32% increase compared to 2024, according to the EDB. However, services export earnings in December 2025 are estimated to have decreased by 2.47%, reaching US$ 323.89 million. Yet, when viewed annually, services exports showed an estimated growth of 2.79% in 2025, totaling US$ 3,672.77 million.
