A Bangladeshi man was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while trying to fly to Spain with a fake visa. This incident occurred this morning (26) when officials from the Immigration and Emigration Department detained him. The man submitted his travel documents to Qatar Airways staff. They grew suspicious about the documents' validity and referred them to the Border Surveillance Unit of the Airport Immigration and Emigration Department for detailed inspection. Technical checks confirmed that the Spanish visa he presented was indeed forged. Investigators found that the 27-year-old had purchased the fake visa from a visa-issuing agency for European countries, paying 25,000 Bangladeshi Taka, which is about Rs. 63,000. The Immigration and Emigration Department has now transferred the suspect to the Airport Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiries.
