A 67-year-old man was killed in an attack at his home in the Kadawatgama area of Madawachchiya on the 16th of October. Early investigations show that the man's oldest son is responsible for the assault. The father was found in the garden with serious head wounds. His youngest son, who lives nearby, discovered him, according to police reports. The victim had been drinking alcohol with his oldest son before the incident occurred. A fight broke out between them, which led the son to hit his father with a wooden stick known as a ‘Reeppa Patiya.’ This blow caused the fatal injuries. Police have arrested the 42-year-old son. They noted that he is believed to have a mental illness. The Madawachchiya Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
