General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff of India, is set to arrive in Sri Lanka today for a two-day visit, as confirmed by the Indian Defence Ministry. During his time in Sri Lanka, General Dwivedi will meet with high-ranking military officials and civil leaders, including the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, the Deputy Minister of Defence, and the Defence Secretary. They will discuss important topics such as training cooperation, building capacities, and regional security. Additionally, General Dwivedi will speak to officers at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and engage with officers and trainees at the Army War College in Buttala. This part of his visit highlights India’s strong focus on defence education and professional military exchanges with Sri Lanka. He will also visit the IPKF War Memorial to pay respects to the Indian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Indian Defence Ministry noted that the Army Chief's visit underscores India’s dedication to enhancing defence cooperation, building mutual trust, and improving collaboration with friendly nations in the Indian Ocean Region.
