The Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs has arrested a young Sri Lankan woman who arrived in the island from Bangalore, India, while attempting to smuggle a stock of Kush cannabis worth around Rs. 33 million.

Sri Lanka Railways has taken steps to add two additional train journeys between Colombo Fort and Kandy due to a large number of devotees travelling to Kandy for ‘Siri Dalanda Vandanawa’, the special exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake arrived in Kandy this afternoon (18) to attend the inauguration of the “Siri Dalada Vandanawa” at the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which is being held for the first time in 16 years.

The ‘Siri Dalada Vandanawa’, a special veneration of the Sacred Tooth Relic, will commence today (18) after 16 years. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, along with Ambassadors, High Commissioners and other diplomats representing several countries, is expected to participate in the inaugural event.

“Siri Dalada Wandanawa”, the special exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic, being held for the first time in 16 years, is scheduled to commence at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy this afternoon (18), followed by a 10-day public viewing beginning on April 19.
