LNP – Excise duty on all varieties of liquor, wines, beer, fags up by 20%
The Finance Ministry announced today that the excise duty on all varieties of liquor, wine and beer will be increased by 20% as of midnight today.
State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said the duty on cigarettes has been increased by 20% from January 1.
It is rather ironic that, at the same time, Dubai has reduced duty and tax on alcohol to ZERO, while Sri Lanka is going in the opposite direction.
