LNP – Cement prices can be decreased by another Rs.1,000
The recent drop in cement prices proves that prices are decided by a mafia of cement importers, Chairman of the National Construction Association Susantha Liyanaarachchi charged.
“If there is a dollar crisis in this country, stop importing cement. Cement is sold at a higher price by the importers, when the price of a bag of cement can be reduced further by Rs. 1000” he said. He urged the government strengthen local cement manufacturers by setting price controls.
Most of these companies are making huge profits by pricing cement at a very high price.
