LNP – Southern Province to get new police division to tackle crimes

A new police division will be set up in the Southern Province to combat organized crimes, drug trafficking and other special crimes that take place in the Matara and Hambanthota districts.

The new division named, Matara Crime Division (MCD) situated at Mirissa in Weligama will be opened on Friday.

The MCD will be established under the instructions of the Senior DIG in charge of the Southern Province Ajith Rohana and will function under the DIG in-charge of Matara and Hambantota
