As the imposition of a heavy taxes on people, the professionals in the information technology (IT) sector are preparing seriously to migrate, Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) President Damith Hettihewa said.
While attending the Digital Investment Conference organized to celebration CSSL’s the 40th anniversary, he said the local IT sector brings five billion dollars into the country and in order to reach that goal, they need the support of the government.
“There are so many people who are making money from the IT industry. The youth community that earn money from the IT industry does not want their earning to be taxed heavily and used for loss-making institutions.
Therefore, he requested the government to utilize the tax revenue received from the industry for country’s education purposes and innovation programs, because the youth community opine that the IT sector does not want to see the revenue generated by it invested on loss-making institutions.

Remember even if they work in Australia they have to pay tax. In fat as Sri Lankans we are not used to paying tax. That is the biggest flaw.
