LNP – RW denies meeting Bond Scam suspect Arjuna Mahendran

President Ranil Wickremesinghe today denied in Parliament the allegation made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S. M. Marikkar that the President met Arjuna Mahendran, the former CB Governor who was accused of bond scam and had lunch with him in Singapore on his return journey to Sri Lanka from Japan.

“We were told that the President had met a Singaporean Minister on his way back to Sri Lanka from Japan.However we had information that he had in fact met Mahendran and had lunch with him,” Marikkar said.

“I did not have any meal with Mahendran. I only had breakfast with a Singaporean Minister and had my lunch while on board the Singapore Airlines aircraft during my flight from Singapore to Colombo. I can show the menue to the MP,” he said.

MP Marikkar said another Argalaya is in the offing. “Former MP Hirunuka Premachandra also echoed it. I wonder whether MP Marikkar is following the footsteps of Premachandra,” President said.

“I would like to assure the President that I will never follow Hirunika Premachandra,” Marikkar said.

“If you don’t follow Hirunika, follow me and work for me,” the President replied.
