President Maithripala Sirisena had informed yesterday’s Cabinet Meeting in Colombo, that a final decision on whether the SLFP would continue to be part of the National Unity Government, would be taken at today’s SLFP Central Committee Meeting.
Â
Informed sources said that Megapolis Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told the President, in the presence of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that there were three options; the SLFP could continue with the current arrangement, a UNP led administration formed with the SLFP Ministers who had abstained from voting for last weeks no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament or the SLFP must leave the government altogether.
Â
President Sirisena said there was a division of opinion in the SLFP. “A final decision on the future of the national government would be taken by the SLFP Central Committee which would meet again todayâ€, he added.
