CID after SL Minister Dinesh Gunawardene

A very reliable source has revealed that CID has commenced investigations regarding Minister Dinesh Gunawardene who was the Minister of Urban Development in the last government. The investigations are carried out regarding several lands that have been handed over without a proper procedure while Mr. Dinesh Gunawardene was the minister.
The CID has commenced investigations claiming that Minister Gunawardene has handed over the lands illegally to one of his lady friends and evidence has been obtained from several officials of the Land Reform Commission and two officials of the Urban Development Authority.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardene has said the CID has commenced investigations based on anonymous petitions and a certain group of the government was responsible for the conspiracy. Minister Gunawardene has expressed his opposition to the move to the Secretary to the President. However, he has said he was not in a position to mediate in the issue as Urban Development authority and Land Reform Commission were under President s brother Gotabhaya Rajapakse.

CID is after Dinesh , because the left movement wants to abolish executive Presidency .
I challange CID to ivestigate , how Karuna got a diplomatic Pass Port to go to UK and ended up in jail for 9 months in UK prison for holding a forged Sri Lankan Diploamtic Passport.
I also challenge members of this forum to defend Karuna and the defense secretary, in this topic of forged Diplomatic passport in a intellectual discussion. |

If CID goes after all Ministers for illegal actions, there will be none left in the Cabinet. So such investigations will be ONLY against those whom the Govt. wants to either get rid off keep them in check.

Well said p007. MR is a crafty operator indeed. He knows how to turn foes into friends (and to neutralise those who cannot be turned) better than anyone else.
Magha, waste of time calling for these kind of investigations. Don't you think CID knows all about how Karuna got his passport? I think most people understand that there was a price to pay for Karuna's support at the time he switched his allegiance from Prabhakaran to Mahinda. |

If JR can release Two criminals who were sentenced to gallows and
If Ranil can turned a blind eye on supplying sophisticated electronic instrument to LTTE
It is nothing wrong in, as a war strategy, giving a forge passport to karuna.
This was done to get the assistance of Karuna to defeat LTTE and kill VP.
Those days we use to say, by hook or crook we should win the war. So this is one of the crookest things we did.
During World War 2 so many forged passport were issued to intelligence workers by relevant Govts. But they do not do it any more.

Absolutely correct!
I would replace the word 'Ministers' with 'MPs' and the word 'Cabinet' with 'Parliament'.
Dinesh Gunawardene is the rogue son of the national hero Hon. Philip Gunawardena. From the day he came to Politics he was sponsored by a Customs officer cum Club owner by the name Samaranayake, who was up to all sorts of nefarious activities, in Pannipitiya. He is dead and gone now but, his survivors are Dinesh's buddies.
Recently, there was a case of Dinesh arranging unbelievably high compensation packages for the Smaranayakas'land acquired for the highway project and the neibours being paid next to nothing. The case, as far as I know, is being delayed indefinitely at the Ministry of Highways and Wasantha Karannagoda too appears to be sitting on it. Chances are that others may not get anything after all. This is first hand knowledge.
Dinesh is no saint. None of them politicians is. The problem may be he has fallen out with a big boy and IGP the obidient hound is in hot persuit.
