President Mahinda Rajapaksa has assured to solve Colombo district Tamils problems, Colombo District Tamil Organization (CDTO) President A.S. Poobalasingham said.
Therefore, the CDTO will support the United People s Freedom Alliance at the Parliamentary Elections, A.S. Poobalasingham said at a press conference in Colombo yesterday.
The CDTO President said they had faith in the Mahinda Chintana and strove hard for President Rajapaksa s victory at the Presidential Election.
It is the duty of all Tamils to strengthen the President s hands to fulfil his development objectives, he said.
CDTO Secretary N. Vijayan said Tamils in Colombo district faced immense problems in housing, education and employment. The President assured that problems of Tamils in Colombo District would be solved at a meeting with CDTO officials, he said. The CDTO Secretary said the President has promised to serve the people irrespective of their ethnicity. Tamils in the Colombo District underwent immense difficulties including registration at Police Stations in the past. President Rajapaksa promptly relieved the people from that problem, he added.
Media Secretary V.P. Gandhirajah said the CDTO would support UPFA at the parliamentary elections to obtain the President s assistance to solve Colombo District Tamils problems.
CDTO Patron and Presidential Assistant Secretary for trade union affairs Hemasiri Jayalath also attended.
