The Death Sentence of Lankan House maid Rizana Nafeek has been suspended by the Saudi King following the request for amnesty by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister Dilan Perera said in parliament a short while ago.
Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera stated in Parliament that according to the Sharia law there is no amnesty for the offence however the death sentence has been suspended.
The Dawadami High Court found Rizana Nafeek guilty of murdering the four-month-old son of Naif Jiziyan Khalaf Al-Otaibi and sentenced her to death on June 16, 2007.
She is suspected to have killed the baby on the afternoon of May 22, 2005. She was arrested by Dawadami police officers the same day, and allegedly confessed to killing the child.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa had appealed to the king of Saudi Arabia for an amnesty for the Sri Lankan maid on October 26, 2010.

| This is good. However, it will be great if she can be released permanently. |

Sri Lankan House maid Rizana Nafeek s death sentence suspended
Good news for Rizana's family as well as Sri Lanka!
Finally Saudi Arabia is not so harsh as some think.
The King of SA being an intelligent person will grant this poor house maid to return to her family in Sri Lanka... |

A 17 year old girl, who should study and enhoy the life as a youngster, will never go overseas as a miad if it was not because of the poverty.
We should get her relased.

Wicramabahu KArunarathne and Jayalath Jayawardane are True burdons to Sri Lanka.
They were educated by Sri Lankan Publc money.
Did they ever do anything to the SL society to pay that debt ?
Instead, Wickarmabahu Karunarathne is chasing some unachieveable - theorerical social concept and Jayalath Jayawardane is doing his best to make his Tamil wife happy. |

By J.A. Fernando in Colombo
Colombo, 07 December, (Asiantribune.com):
Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith recently condemned the efforts taken by certain Sri Lankan expatriates to tarnish island nation s image among foreign states. His Eminence Cardinal Ranjith said that the attempts aimed at bringing down the country s image at international level are condemned by the Catholics in the country regardless of persons involved in such activities.
We agree with the President s policy that the various foreign powers should not be allowed to create dissention among the communities, he said adding the Catholics hail the President s policy that certain foreign elements should not be allowed to sow the seeds of separatism in the country.
Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith made these comments delivering his speech at the State ceremony organized by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to felicitate him at the BMICH on Sunday. Members of Maha Sangha, Members of National Christian Council, Archbishop Emeritus Nicholas Marcus Fernando, Archbishop Emeritus Dr. Oswald Gomis and Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka Archbishop Joseph Spiteri and former President Chandrika Kumaranatunga, ministers, parliamentarians were also present.
Cardinal Ranjith also highlighted that he had received information that several misguided Catholic priests operating from foreign soil are involved in futile attempts of dividing the country.

Cannot bare to watch the video Dr. Wickramabahuboothaya addressing Toilet cleaners in UK & selling the motherland.
Regardless their political differences, they all should be allies without a compromise (except TNA) when it comes to LTTE & the war against the barbarians with ONE VOICE. Otherwise they are traitors.
I wish Wickramabahuboothaya's president is someone like Vladimir Putin. bootaya's balls would have been cut by KGB while he was delivering the speech in London. |
