What the TNA`s volte-face signifies

Why waste time voting????? Whatever the voters do some self centered `maapila` will be elected the president and continue to enjoy life while those around him will also plunder the resources as they wish for their personal betterment while the country suffers. This has been what we have seen, this is what we see today and it is what will be seen for many more moons.

People in Sri Lanka seek political power to do 10% of work for the Nation and 90% of work for themselves at the expense of the country. Politicians in Sri Lanka mainly create problems for the people rather than solve the problems of the people as a nation. The people are left to their own resources to solve the problems created by the politicians. So why vote for problem creators?????

[But, the TNA and others of its ilk, who were full of praise for Wickramabahu for his courage and concern for the civilians trapped in the war zone, have left him in the lurch.]

For that act and that act alone we commend TNA!

    Geethal,

Unfortunately, even the TNA recognises that there are only two horses in the race. So who do they recommend Tamils should vote for? the person who makes promises that he has absolutely no intention of keeping. I suspect most tamils will have no problem going against the TNA recommendation. Yes the ruling party is corrupt but is definitely the lesser of two evils.

Wickremabahu is an honourable man who often takes up unpopular causes courageously dictated by his principles, unfortunately he has no power base and no hope of winning. I have met him many years ago and have followed his political career, but a protest vote is not something the country needs at this stage. It would be very dangerous to split the vote and let those bizarre bedfellows UNP/JVP/TNA in. There will be nothing but mayhem for another 5 years. Fonnie will go back on his word, Wickie will be doing his utmost to undermine Fonnie, JVP will fight tooth and nail against TNA and TNA will go crying all around Europe and USA saying that the Tamil man has no place in Sri Lanka and that they want a separate state. The only thing that binds them together at this point in time is their common hatred of MR, but if MR is defeated that unity will disappear in days!

My advice is bite your tongue and vote for Mahinda. That is what is called realpolitik.

The old well used adage is apt for this moment of time `there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics`.

whether it is MR or SF they will solicite the help of even the devil himself if it is going to give an advantage. that is realpolitik
