Fonseka promises to release all hard core LTTE cadres:
Reduce military intelligence:
Opposition Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka has entered into a clandestine agreement with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to cede to it many concessions and demands, if carried out would not only undermine the historic military victory achieved by the heroic Armed Forces but would also render in vain the supreme sacrifices made by around 26,000 troops and another 30,000 disabled.
Meanwhile, the TNA has been ordered by the pro-LTTE Diaspora groups to support Fonseka at the Presidential election. These groups are working in collaboration with international humanitarian agencies that are interested in taking the Sri Lankan leaders before a War Crimes Tribunal. TNA s conditions are said to be the result of a meeting in London between representatives of the TNA and the Coordination Committee formed to prepare the institution of a so-called Provisional Temporary Government of Tamil Eelam (PTGTE).
The demands if conceded would not only pose a huge threat to the sovereignty of the country which had been secured at great cost and sacrifice but would also be a huge shot in the arm to those sinister international forces who were hell bent on destabilizing the country but failed in their attempts due to the resistance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says that it supports Sarath Fonseka under certain conditions.
The people of Sri Lanka has the sole right to be informed about these `conditions . These `conditions should be revealed to the people, Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said.
Addressing a press briefing held at the Media Centre for National Development, at the Media Ministry yesterday Minister Yapa Abeywardena said that the first condition of those set of conditions is releasing all hardcore terrorist leaders.
The Government has already released persons who do not have charges. Legal action will be taken against other terrorist leaders and it was mentioned by the former Army Commander himself while he was in Washington. The second demand is reducing army intelligence. There is no way the present Government can agree to these conditions.
According to Minister Yapa the third condition is demarcating North and Eastern Provinces. It was the JVP which went to courts and got the two provinces separated but now they have agreed to demarcate the two provinces. Such a step can be taken only after seeking the consent of the people. There is a system to do so. Now the JVP is trying to turn the victories of the country back which was achieved with so much sacrifices. The fourth condition is reducing the number of members in Armed Forces and the police based in the North. The Government had to rescue the Tamil community at a cost of 26,000 lives of the brave soldiers and 30,000 soldiers became disabled during the humanitarian operation. The Government did so because it is responsible for the safety of the public. There is no way the Government would agree to such a condition. The fifth condition is removing high security zones.
The Government has already removed some high security zones and doing it gradually because first of all the Government has to ensure the safety of the people and public property, the Minister said.
Rudrakumar, the unofficial leader of the LTTE stated that the new chapter of the Elam War has already commenced.
Wasantharaja, another LTTE activist has also made a similar statement from London. Therefore the so called conditions of the TNA and this so called New Chapter of the Eelam War match very well.
The opposition is now going around the country with speeches that whip up racism. Under this situation all Sri Lankans must know what the conditions of the TNA were agreed to by the Opposition Presidential candidate, the Minister added.
