The CID in a special operation yesterday at Narakamulla in Thoppigala recovered a large stock of explosives including 30 claymore mines while the military recovered a bundle of maps believed to have been used by the LTTE in Mullaitivu.
The explosives included 31 powerful claymore mines weighing 15kgs and 10kgs, 40 rounds of Rocket Propelled Grenades as well as cash amounting to Rs.500, 000 and a stock of jewellery.
The items were believed to have been hidden by the LTTE during its withdrawal from the East were recovered on information received from arrested LTTE suspects.
Meanwhile troops of Task Force 02 found the maps in Kappukulam and consisted of 422 ground plans (maps) as follows: 199 maps of Colombo, 100 maps of Puttalam, 14 maps of Negombo, 26 maps of Kurunegala, 30 maps of Hambantota, 15 maps of Kalutara, a map of Matale, a map of Mullaitivu, three maps of Moneragala, a map of Kandy, a map of Batticaloa, two maps of Gampaha, two maps of Polonnaruwa, three maps of Ampara maps, a map of Badulla, 15 maps of Hatton and three maps of Jaffna and Kilinochchi.
The troops also recovered 30 Anti-Personnel Mines (APM) in Pudukuduirippu while Task Force 3 recovered 33 APMs in the Alankulam.
