Nawaloka Hospital has today evolved to become the country s premier private sector healthcare provider, recently opened its new facility of luxury rooms and OPD. It has a total floor area of 300,000 sq.ft., a bed capacity of 400 and a host of new facilities and amenities designed to make ill health and recuperation as comfortable and hassle free as possible for its patients.
Last year, a new complex was added to the existing facility comprising eight floors, each having a floor area of 10,000 sq.ft, fourteen ultra modern surgical theatres complete with the latest LED operating theatre lights, an electronic gas delivery system, and an electronic master clock system which displays the same time throughout the hospital in all operating theatres [a critical asset for birth monitoring] , said Deputy Chairman Nawaloka Hospitals, Jayantha Dharmadasa.
Director/General Manager, Nawaloka Hospitals, Professor Lal Chandrasena went on to say that the new OPD was located on the ground floor with a channel consultation area consisting of 85 consultation rooms and over 350 consultants who could be channeled. Over 200 consultants visit the hospital on a daily basis.
For added convenience, channel consultation areas are separated with doctors specialising in particular fields having their rooms in one particular section for instance, pediatric areas, neurology areas, cardiac areas, etc. will be housed in separate areas.
Also housed on the ground floor is a fully equipped emergency treatment unit complete with the latest in technology. Two separate operating theatres have also been dedicated to the needs of OPD patients.
The Hospital s state of the art 24 Hour laboratory and OPD Pharmacy is also housed on the ground floor for added convenience.
The first floor houses the obstetric and gynecological facility, complete with two separate operating theatres solely for the needs of maternity patients, to ensure prompt attention and care. In keeping with modern trends there is a private delivery suite available to accommodate husbands who wish to remain with their wives during the delivery procedure.
The Medical ICU, Sleep Lab [to treat sleep disorders] and Endoscopy units are housed on the second floor. The third floor is dedicated for patients with heart ailments and consists of the Heart Centre, CICU and Cauterization Laboratory, with two operating theatres solely for open heart surgeries. The Serene Health Screening Centre is housed on the fourth floor, where a complete medical check up could be carried out. Yet another new facility is the Neo Natal ICU for emergency care of premature and term babies, and a surgical ICU.
