Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva said that although there were Tamil Tiger courts in Kilinochchi and Mullaithivu, they had respected Sri Lanka s courts.
Addressing a press briefing held in the auditorium of the Ministry of Justice to make aware media about denominating the judiciary divisions, the Chief Justice said that he was retiring as content Sri Lankan that rendered a good service to the countrymen.
Tamils are a respectful community. They respected our law and the rights of others. Even LTTE respected our judiciary system. They did not at least fire a single shot targeting our courts. I did maximum harm to Prabakaran legally, but I could go to Jaffna to open courts, the Chief Justice said.
In response to queries of the media persons, Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva said as follows:
There were our judges in north and east continuously. They also had to approve Tigers orders. We removed them and no one was sent from south to fill the vacancies. We appointed suitable persons from those provinces.
However, even LTTE respected our courts. They did not fire at least a single shot at our courts. When our courts issued warrants to arrest persons that hid in Tiger controlled areas, they arrested them and handed over to Army.
I prepared the indictment against Prabakaran as the Attorney General. He was sentenced to 200 years by a judge appointed by me. I delivered the judgment to de-merge north and east. I abrogated the Post Tsunami Operational Management Systems (P-TOMS) agreement that warranted World Bank aids to the Tiger administration. I did all this and went to open courts in Jaffna. If they were against us I could have been the main target.
There is one good example. In one case heard by LTTE court, a DNA test was needed to verify the paternity of a child. Then the Tigers directed the case to one of our courts. We examined it and delivered a judgment.
I was in public service for 41 years. Out of that period, for 20 years I was a judge. Now the time is up for me to retire. I accept it happily.
I am a good Sinhala Buddhist. But I acted as a Sri Lankan. I did not run a separate race called law. I retire from the public service with satisfaction, happily and humbly as a satisfied Sri Lankan who has rendered a good service to the countrymen.

Who is this Jane Jananayaka.......another senanayake...lol
Jun 7 (LG) They could take a cue from cute Janani Jayanayaka, that wide-eyed, hate-mongering, ill-educated politician who wants to be a member of the European Parliament, for example, publicly claimed that she is in mourning Edited By - noordeen - 7 Jun 2009 05:21:44 GMT |

It is normal that LTTE or Tamils who are usually wellknown advocates and supreme court lawyers in Sri Lanka and in southeast Asia respect the courts and sinhalese should understand that tamils are masters of gthe constitution of Sri Lanka.Without any brilliant Tamil lawyer sri lanka can not have any constitute but only in veddah type of courts and constitutes.
sinhnalese still can learn a lot from Tamils.
Take an MP from south whose edducqtional level will be
up to 7th standard or OL lev el failed student but when you take a Tamil MP whose educational level will be higher than any sinhalese mps even Mr.Mahinda ( JVP man)
If you can take general doctor you will find always huge differences between a Tamil doctor and sinhalese veddah type of doctor.
Evenlate Mrs.banadranaijke prefered Dr.LUcas to operate her husband than sinhalese doctors when he was killed by homosedxual bouddhist monk.from keleniya temple. |

Terror group never respected the Sri lankan Government law.
That is the very reason they took arms against the Government security forces and many government entities.
They did not have any regard to any law of the country. They were lawless terrorists did not respect any law. They had the law of the Jungle. Who ever who opposed them they killed them. They did not have any regard to any international law or law of the country. They did not have any respect to human lives. If some one says that the Terror group had respect to courts, it is a falls belief. Just because the Terror group did not fire at courts,it does not give any theory that the terror group respected the Sri lankan Government courts. No credit due to the terror group with regard to respect to law of the country. Edited By - TRIBUNAL - 7 Jun 2009 05:59:52 GMT |
