President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that he will never allow anyone to destroy the people s democratic right to elect their representatives through the exercise of their franchise without let or hindrance.
As much as he liberated the Motherland from cruel terrorism, he will dedicate himself to protect and safeguard democracy in this country for the benefit of the future generation.
He said so addressing a group of nearly 3,000 UNP supporters in the Kandy district who crossed over to the SLFP to support his candidature at a meeting held at President s House in Kandy on Wednesday. The President who said that it was the duty of UNPers to safeguard democracy, said the present leaders of the grand old party with a history of 60 years had betrayed democracy for petty selfish gain. The President said that while he was there to protect and safeguard democracy in the SLFP and the UPFA, the UNP had no leader to protect democracy in that party as all its leaders had betrayed democracy.
Almost 98 percent of the Mahinda Chinthana policies put forward by me in 2005 have now been accomplished. When I assumed power in 2005 I had only a slim one vote majority in Parliament to carryout my policies.
The Ranil Wickremesinghe government had given a section of the country on a platter to the LTTE by a notorious ceasefire agreement. If any country gave recognition to an LTTE state, Sri Lanka would have been doomed. So I had no option but to establish a strong government to support a war effort to defeat terrorism by inviting Opposition members to join the government and establish a 44 vote majority in Parliament, the President said.

98% accomplished. We will give you a another 25 days to complete the rest of it. But the economy and the condition of the poor in Sri Lanka is very similar to the days you won the election in 2005.

You are a good man but your henchmen like Mervin,Rajitha, Bogollagama,Nimal Sripala ruined your clean image built so many years of hard work. There is a very popular saying in Sri Lanka.

the economy and the condition of the poor in Sri Lanka is very similar to the days you won the election in 2005.
In 2005 the first priority was to win the 'Kalakanni Yuddhaya (c) CBK'. MR guided all saththu sarpayo, gunamakuwo to fullfil that.
MR has better experience in managing the econ crisis than any other leader, currently in Politics. Beside that SF is coming to abolish Exec pres. He has no Econ Plans. He will have the 'Kotalu'(UNP-JVP) Policy for Econ.

Thats what really happened to SF.
One day ( unfortunately for you its not 27th Jan) when UNP come into power, Mervin,Rajitha, Bogollagama, ... will b in that Government, from where they came to MR's Odokkuwa.
Then Mervin will tell RW, Sir Mama Sirge Gamey Miniha,..... and worship Ranil's .... |

| This is another lie. If MR says he fulfilled 98% of his promises, people can think the level of lies he presents to the people in SL. It is true he eradicated LTTE from SL and brought peace to the country. Part of this credit should go to Fonseka as well. So bringing peace to country cannot be the main slogan in the presidential campaign. He must admit he directly or indirectly ruined a lot of money by allowing his ministers and family members to illegally earn money. Even now he invites over 3000 people daily to Temple Trees and treet them with meals and other things. His brother who is known as 'ten percent' has earned billions of money from contracts. So MR is not the person who can handles the SL economy. |

So bringing peace to country cannot be the main slogan in the presidential campaign.

Nobody (mark my words) admits that. Ruining Money and illegally earning money r 2 different things. Ur logic is good for the Galery. The money ruined has no significant difference than the previous regimes. He won't do that 3000 per day service after 27th Jan. Truth of the matter is that, the money waisted is a very very little amount of the National Economy.
So MR is not the person who can handles the SL economy.
U tell some stories (some partially relevent and some non relevent) and based on those you say MR cannot handle Economy :)))
The skill of handling Economy is not based on the Amount of 'Martiya Geseema'.
I c that as follows:
The one who took responsibility (And Fonsi's-ability ) of winning the Terror. War and finishing that, will have a better skill of handling ( guiding / leading ...) the Econ War.
Also assume SF is a Cleaner than MR. Still he has to solely depend on the Kotalu Policies of his main 2 partners, which doesn't give any benefit to the country bcos of 'Kamba Adilla'

Over 6 decades srilankans are suffering from our own srilankans not british or other countrried rule. Politicians like you always critisizing eachother fault not thinking about innocent poor people in srilanka. We pay lot of taxes to the government but government did nothing for the people specially after the election is over. In srilanka only enjoying and living better life politicians and their families. I have never seen family runing government like your government in srilankan political history. if you are already 40 years in politics why dont you give up to others to lead the country more honest way. enough is enough please go away from politics right now without telling and fabricating histories. |

Oh Man
the other guy is solid as he is promising more realistic stuff that 10k increment for all public employees. I'm sure Contract with the US Gov includes that as well. |

Thank you for what you have done for Srilanka ,The term you served is enough ,If you win again The mervins , Siripalas the Rajapakse brothers,and the other corrupt politicians will go to town. So lets give a chance to Sarath Fonseka ,while you be in the opposition. Make use of the money you guys have made,dont be too greedy. Next time kick mervin and your brothers out ,and come to do clean politics. Till then enjoy your wealth! |
