Don`t blind the eye available to look into the Tamil question in Sinhalese point of view
Western People`s Front (WPF) MP Mano Ganeshan made a sentimental appeal at a press briefing today (09) not to make him the last Tamil MP who speaks the Tamil question in Sinhalese.
He indirectly stated that via interrogations by Terrorism Investigation Department (TID), he is projected through certain media as a person who has links with the LTTE and that is a threat to his life.
He said that as a law abiding citizen he went to the TID on August 26 obeying to the written summon. He said that he went to Kilinochchi openly and met LTTE political division leaders during the period between 2000 and 2005 aiming to discuss a political solution to the ethnic problem through power devolution. He said that Minister Thondaman, Chandrasekaran and G.L. Peiris were also present when he went to Kilinochchi.
After seeing the news on the TID investigation and the statements made by him, the former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarathunga phoned him and verified that he went to Kilinochchi with a message from her to Prabakaran. He said that if someone had tapped his phone, the government would have known that the former President phoned him.
In response to a query from a journalist, MP Mano Ganeshan said that the policy of his party was devolving power to avoid partition. He added that the hearts of Tamil people could be won only through power devolution.
