Colombo Dockyard has secured local as well as foreign orders up to the year 2011.
Its Managing Director and Chief Executive Mangala P.B .Yapa said the Dockyard discharged a major task earning international praise since its inception on 1st August 1974. A heavy workload had to be executed this year as ships are under repairs in all docks. He made special mention of repairs undertaken to several large fuel cargo vessels of the Indian Shipping Corporation. Three vessels produced on behalf of an Indian company were recently released. A special vessel is now under construction for an Indian company. The Colombo, Dockyard Chief Executive said the prevailing environment and the economic programme of the country are an impetus to execute this work.

Do you know whay these developments are in Dockyard now, because the mejority of shares were sold to Japanes Onamichi Dockyard in year 1993 by the Ex President R Premadasa who has got a good vision about these developments. Onamichi manage the Dockyard now.
Government should privatized all institutions except defence, health and education then country will move |

BS....
Hey, I just checked the Company profile of Dockyard. All the worker's of Dockyard are Sri Lankan. Japanese are only 'siphoning out' the Profits. Dockyard is doing well because the Sri Lakan Engineers and Workers are Hard Working Sri Lankans. Not because of Premadasa and the Japanese.
Dockyard is what it is today, not because of the Premedasa and his corrupt Japanese Privatisation....
Even this privatisation was possible because of SLFP Minister the late P B G Kalugalla who formed the SLPA and invested in what now is Colombo Dockyard.
What Premadasa should have done was to change the management structure to make it more efficient if necessary but ensure that CDL remained a Sri Lankan entity, so that Sri Lanka benefits from the Privatisation and NOT the Onomichi Family of Japan who have done sweet nothing for Dockyard.
If I do abit of Research it will be possible to find out Who Premadasa's 'Collector' was in this 'Corrupt' privatisation deal.
I am glad that No Public enterprises will be privatised under the Mahinda Chinthana...
There is NO japanese Management or Technical input for Colombo Dockyard. The Japanese are by and large siphoning the profits. The Company is doing well because the Sri Lankan's in the company are working very hard under the guidance of a Sri Lankan CEO, as apparent from this article.

Let me educate Pathmanabha by quoting the first few lines of this article.
Its Managing Director and Chief Executive Mangala P.B .Yapa said the Dockyard discharged a major task earning international praise since its inception on 1st August 1974.
While this Pathmanabha is full of praise for Premadasa for Selling this National Asset to a Japanese Family Company and making millions in the process, he is Craftily silent about which Govt formed Dockyard and Who Ruled sri Lanka when Dockyard was infact FORMED???
For Your info, Dockyard was formed by the SLFP Govt in 1974, when Hon: P B G Kalugalle (Minister of Ports and Tourism, and MP for Kegalla) was the Minister....
Infact the Dockyard CEO himself says that Dockyard did Wonderful Work since 1974...Dockyard CEO does NOT say that all the Wonderful Work Started after the Company was sold to the Japanese Onomichi Family.......Infact the Dockyard CEO does not even mention about the Japanese!! This should tell you thing or two....
So only outsider's (probably komis Kakka's) like Pathmanabha are talking about Japanese contributions to Dockyard while the Dockyard CEO himself has said nothing about Premadasa's Japanese mudalali friends....
If You Praise Premadasa for Selling this National asset to an insignificant Japanese Family Company (by the way there were much bigger and better shipyards in Japan interested in Dockyard) in exchange for perks and commisions.......you should atleast have the human decency to thank SLFP's P B G Kalugalla for the Formation of Dockyard.....because if not for the SLFP and Minister Kalugalla....Your Corrupt Premadasa would not have had anything to Sell! and make a quick buck!
The Premadasa family was in the Lavaria selling business before they entered politics....
How do you think Sajith Premadasa has a Mansion in Wijerama Mawatha Colombo 7?????
From Premadasa Salary as PM and President????
My foot!

Well, the busses did'nt run in my village during UNP rule...
We don't have cars. No point having hospitals if we have to walk to the hospital. We'll drop dead before we reach the hospital.
Sri Lanka is along ways away before we privatise everything.
Traitor Ranil's privatisations are now being ruled as 'illegal' by the Supreme Court. (Eg: LMSL deal with JKH).....Pretty soon the Sri Lanka Insurance Co-operation privatisation too will be ruled as illegal.
I think what Sri Lanka needs is not Mudalalification /Privatisation of state assets but
changes is the management that will remove inefficiency. |
