They said they came under attack while engaged in decorations for a public meeting to be staged in the town on the 17th of this month with the participation of the JNP President Wimal Weerawansa.
The Police are inquiring into the incident. Expressing his views, Wimal Weerawansa said such violent activities cannot prevent the victorious journey of their party. JNP members are being attacked by the JVP fundamentalist leadership, which is intimidated by the advancement of the JNP and their unsuccessful future. While calling for democracy from the Government, the JVP is attempting to eliminate the rights of the Janatha Nidahas Peramuna. He challenged the JVP to come to a solution in a theoretical debate.
