`The Government of Sri Lanka is not prepared for ceasefire with the LTTE`, announced state controlled Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) Tuesday morning in all three languages, quoting Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the defense secretary and a brother of the Sri Lanka`s President Mahnda Rajapaksa.
`The ceasefire announcement is a ploy by the LTTE when it is being militarily weakened in the war front, to strengthen it militarily under the guise of holding negotiation. There is no need for the government to enter into a ceasefire agreement with the LTTE` the SLBC news report quoted as Gothabaya Rajapakse as saying.
`If we have to believe the LTTE they should first disarm themselves and then surrender,` Defense Secretary was quoted as saying in the government media.
Meanwhile Dr.Rajiva Wijesinghe, Secretary General of the Government Peace Secretariat (SCOPP) welcomed the unilateral ceasefire announcement by the LTTE. `However we have to be alert,` Dr.Wijesinghe was quoted as saying in news reports carried Tuesday morning by private electronic media.

That is an interesting development!
I thought I read in SF malli's page that SL Government was under pressure to accept the ceasefire when the Indian PM is in SL for the Summit..Looks like LTTE played their cards well and if there is any attack, Gosl will be in trouble..

| Good move by GoSL. We can not give ceasefires whenever terrorists want one. |

I suppose that is what LTTE wanted and Gota played right into it..I don't think Gota knows the seriousness of this statement..

Will there be a Indian PM to visit...?
Sri Lankan's do have there ways of doing things,SAARC is not
going to change LTTE.
If LTTE want to stop Terror they should have, a week before when MR suggest a ceasefire.
DS has replied to all worriers.. whom are checking GOSL pulse.
