    Good Article, Maitreya..

No one wants to die for no good reason..! Today, any freedom fighter who dies, would be labeleed as brain washed..! So what about the likes of Sivakumaran? Who brain washed them? This term brain washing is a loose jargon that is being used to white-wash sinhala inability and deception..!

If the freedom fight is sustaining to this date, it is due to the commitment that was shown in the early stages, starting from Sivakumaran..!

    May we fulfil your aspirations..!

Did not know about Duraiyappa`s actions (wanting to disrupt the functioning of the Tamil conference in Jaffna) in detail before which led to his assasination. GOSL like to propagate that he was killed for no reason.

    AnuD :

[So, it is SLA who saved them. ]

That was for Mavai Senathirajah who was a memeber of TULF. Sure he may have been saved by Army, Not all Army men are killers, but mostly who control them are dangerous ones.

[t was Velu himself who gave the phone call to arrest Kuttimani and his group.]

About Kuttimani`s case, this is what people like you want others to believe.

But what happened was Kuttimani was caught by police where they were going to India by boat. When the Police caught them they did not know for some time who they got, they just thought some smugglers which are common in that area. Then some one identified him as Kuttimani since his pic was posted by GOSL everywhere as wanted man.

Who shot and killed the Jaffna Mayor Alfred Duraiyappa? Was it Velupillai Prabhakaran? In fact it was not the handiwork of Prabhakaran.

The LTTE leader claimed that he was the one who shot and killed Alfred Duraiappah. It was a false claim by a killer maniac.

Militant youths took revenge for the deaths at the International Tamil Conference by murdering Alfred Duraiyappah, the mayor of Jaffna and the leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, in the Jaffna district.

Alfred Duraiyappah was loved by the public but hated by the leaders of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kadchi, especially by A Amirthalingham the Commandant of the party.

Alfred Duraiappah, though a Christian, used to go regularly to Hindu temples, especially to the Varadaraja Perumal Temple at Ponnalai. When he went on July 27, 1975, four young men were waiting for him. As per the popular reports, as he left his car, one of the young men opened fire from point blank range, and he collapsed and died. The assailants jumped into Duraiyappa s car and sped away. Velupillai Prabhakaran, a secondary school dropout from the coastal town of Valvetiturai claimed credit for the killing of Alfred Duraiyappah.

But Prabhakaran was nowhere near the scene of the killing when Alfred Duraiyappah was slain, but he joined those youths who were involved in the killing only subsequently.

In fact, it was Amirthalingam Kandeepan, the eldest son of Appapillai Amithalingham, one of the popular leaders of Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kadchi movement, who shot and killed Alfred Duraiyappah to avenge the impact of certain poetical writings criticizing his mother.
