Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the government cannot take the responsibility for the threats against media arising from certain individuals behavior.
However, he said that the government will take all actions to protect the media freedom. He made these comments speaking at an award ceremony this evening at President s office in Colombo.
Speaking further he said that Sri Lanka has the media freedom at the highest level despite the claims of certain media watchdogs. He assured that the government has no hesitation to take action against any person that threatens the media freedom.
The ceremony was held to facilitate 60 artists of the Southern Province.
