A senior LTTE cadre known as Nagulan, now in police custody, has told his investigators that 12 battled hardened Tigers had received training as priests at a religious institution in a Colombo suburb. Their mission is to transport weapons and explosives to different parts of the country posing as holy men to wreak havoc in the country, he has said.
Nagulan has revealed that out of a batch 40 novices undergoing training at the institute 12 had been Tigers. The best way to go past police and security forces barriers, he has told the police, is to masquerade as priests.
He has confessed he made six trips to various parts of the country to distribute suicide jackets, arms and ammunition and explosives. He was arrested at the Saliyawea police checkpoint recently while he was returning to the North after delivering two suicide kits to an LTTE contact in Wattala.
