Lankan News Replies

Nineteen buses and over 50 other motor vehicles were stranded at Vavuniya following the Army s order that they cannot proceed beyond Vavuniya.

Owners of these vehicles have brought this to the notice of the Government Agent Vavuniya S. Shanmugam. He had planned a meeting in this regard with the representatives of the security forces scheduled for last evening (5)

Since the security forces failed to give them prior notice of this arrangement they were forced to be stranded in Vavuniya since Sunday, the owners complained.

Since train services have been suspended between Medawachiya and Vavuniya, people who arrived in Vavuniya on various errands were unable to proceed beyond since all other forms of transport between Vavuniya and Medwachchiya too, were banned until further notice.

The Tigers must be happy about this state of affairs as it has effectively marked out and blocked out at least the North as completely separate from the South! Balallu lawwa kos eta baawanawada koheda!

Yes, and this includes the ambulances transporting patients unable to get appropriate treatments in Hellam. They will highly appreciate Magnum s comments.

The more the tamil civillians are inconvenienced by the Forces and the Govt. the more the tigers like it as they get propoganda for their international immage that tamil civillians are being oppressed and harrased and that they are seeking freedom. ie. Your own example Even an ambulance with a sick person is deprived of getting access to a proper medical facility.

The unfortunate reality is that eventhough it is the LTTE that is the root cause of the missery of these tamil civillians (not mentioning the civillians of the other communities all over the country who are undergoing hardships to the extent of losing their lives) it is the actions of the Forces and the Govt that ultimately takes the blame!

You would be aware what happened opposite Downing Street on 4 Feb.

The reason I would say is due to the lethargy and inefficiency of our foreign missions in not organising propoganda camapigns with the support of Sri Lankans in those countries, on lines similar to that organised by the LTTE sympathisers and supporters all over the world, to neutralise the effects of the LTTE propoganda.

Then on the other hand tamil civillians are driven towards joining the LTTE when they can no longer undergo inconvenience. When 100 undergo hardship 10 (if not more) would be wanting to join the tigers.

Eventhough it is the terror of the LTTE that compels our Forces to take drastic measures such as closing roads and even preventing ambulances from getting across, a disgusted tamil angry with the LTTE will never be able to join the Army, Navy, Air Force or Police to fight against the LTTE. If tamils begin joining the Forces the LTTE too would infiltrate! So where would a disgusted tamil civillian look to get out of the missery?

So in effect we are simply unwittingly playing the game as the tigers want! What they are doing is Meeya Balala lawwa kos eta baawanawa! (mouse getting the cat to haul it's jack seeds)

The party with whom you are fighting are not the least connected to the people who are stranded. You captured the East with the help of Karuna. Unless you find 'a Karuna' from the North you cannot capture the North. If you are genuine why don't you allow the journalists to operate freely.

Kandappa,

The 'Party' with whom we are fighting is the LTTE and the people who are stranded are 99% Tamils who live in the Wanni region.

Therefore if the LTTE is not 'least connected to the people who are stranded' in Vavuniya, how do you justify the position taken by the LTTE that the LTTE represents 'all Tamils', and are fighting for the so called freedom of 'all tamils'?
