Lalkantha, well Sri Lanka managed to finish your godfathers, other than the devil `Soma Amare,`(uuwath nelagaththanam ae welawe kiyala wadak naha lol!) so that Sri Lanka could continue as an independent sovereign state!

Well your point taken that India screwed JRJ! well, they had to pay with RajG`s life! again, that didn`t do any good to SL - other than teaching a lesson.......

Anyway it is up to present govt to handle India and the rest of Int comm. However, I appreciate the little bit of sense you talk (much better than other poli-tikkas) but the rest is all ` Amu Pacha` `Boru Hila` to get the m-asses. Para Jappoma thama!

[.. it had deteriorated our education system, health and public transport services and had brought disaster to our country.]

Heard this in the `70`s and `80`s during the uprising.

How can this idiot say things like this without even

    thinking about it`s past?

The whole country is in a mess because of people like this!

At this time S/Lanka needs India`s support (in every way) military etc, to fight Terrorism which has been a Curse to this beautiful Island. India has identified that the S/L Govt`s military action is Purely to destroy Terrorism....we have to understand that there are a number of our Tamil brethren live in the southern parts of India, along with the Tamil population of Southern India, they fled S/L during and after 1983 riots purely because of the then S/L Govt`s inefficiency ( UNP Govt) to curtail the violence unleashed on the innocent Tamils. Some of the Politicians in Tamil Nadu support the Terrorists of North, purely not understanding the S/L Govt Challenge to destroy Terrorism from North OR South. Today is different the Majority Sinhala Population has understood the grave mistake they did in 1983. The Govt of Mahinda R is trying hard to solve this ethnic problem, I was in S/L during X.Mas holidays and lived in Wellawatta and met many Tamil friends, they too has the same opinion...THAT TERRORISM HAS TO BE DEFEATED WHETHER FROM NORTH OR SOUTH.

Late 70`s and 80`s Indian political thinking to wards Sri Lanka was based on which side of the bed Indira and later Rajiv Gandhi got up in the the morning.

JR Jayewardena also has to be blamed for the edgy Indo -Sri Lanka relationship after 1977 and Premadasa too, who was as the PM, hailed Indira Gandhi`s election defeat in our parliament which was stupid, as Indira Gandhi came back to power later and continued to support Tamil militancy in Sri Lanka.

The animosity of JRJ and Premadasa towards Indira Gandhi was merely because of the close friendship she had with Sirima Bandaranayake. JRJ and Premadasa both showed their bankrupt philosophy by depriving civil rights of Sirima Banadaranayake which Indira Gandhi did not appreciate.

Philosophically bankrupt JRJ and Premadasa gambled the foreign loans on open economic policies to boost the economy and please the public rather than building a solid industrialized infrastructure the nation would stand on to compete with the demand the developing nations were facing at the time. They forgot that The garment factories provide employment for people to just survive but they do not take nations to realistic goals of economic prosperity.

When it comes to JVP who are standing on fundamentally bankrupt and fragile Marxist philosophy , they are only good for agitation in situations of conflicts than a party with capabilities of conflict resolution.

Well said magha. The `solutions` that each one of us `see` are as per our own investments. Hence the JVP limitations. But at least they do not pretend that they have solutions that would be acceptable at the international level
