Teen aged job seeker from Batti. raped in Sri Lanka

A teen aged Tamil girl from Batticaloa who had come to a Maradana employment agency accompanied by two foreign employment sub agents, is alleged to have been raped at a lodge in Maradana.
A suspect was taken into custody.
According to the complaint, the girl aged (19) who was a native from Karadiyanaru in Batticaloa, she had visited Colombo accompanied by two sub agents who had made arrangements to accommodate her in a lodge in Maradana. However, after a short stay, she had fallen ill and cutting short her visit had returned to Karadiyanaru where she had sought treatment at the government hospital. Maradana Police said that according to medical examination, she had stated that she had been raped. A complaint was lodged with the Police who apprehended one of the suspects. SI Gunasinhe Adikari, PS.22465 Gunaratne under the directions of OIC Sunil Imbulpe is conducting investigations.

What became of the soldiers that were supposed to have been upto no good in Haiti? NOTHING!
So don't plainly accuse someone of something been done when leaving aside conviction even an inquiry has not been held. In fact another batch of Sri Lankan soldiers has left to join the peace keeping force. If there was some truth relating to this accusation do you think the UN would have got a second batch from Sri Lanka? |

Armed men in military uniform abducted a woman Saturday early morning from her house in Imaiyaa?nan close to the Jaffna-Point Pedro road at in Vadamaraadchi, Jaffna, and gang raped her in a shrub land near her house, according to a Women Welfare volunteer Organization. The woman was found lying unconscious by relatives, and was rushed to Manthikai hospital first and later transferred to Jaffna Teaching hospital for further treatment, sources in Jaffna said.

What became of them??
They were discharged and sent home with disgrace!
The UN requested the GOSL to take stern action against them, but as usual the GOSL simply tried to sweep the crimes under the carpet. The GOSL can't punish any of it's criminals because the GOSL is full of criminials itself!
The UN doesn't discharge over a hundred troops without proof, if anything the UN would try to sweep the issue under the carpet themselves because they're so short-staffed. It was a case of the Sri Lankan soldiers got caught with their pants down! |
