Babara Kanda Waterr Fall
Saturday, 12 January 2008 - 8:37 AM SL Time

It is Babara kanda water fall.....

There is a long story about the trip we went there.....

We met few living gods during our visit there. They are living in extreme poverty with less than minimum facilities and still glitter with golden hearts....

There is a `Lodge` maintained by a sinhalese family and they said we could take the road from their lodge to Ohiya over the mountains and ensured it is an easy ride. The road we took from Kalupahana to come to the lodge was closed for construction that day and we did not have any option than to take that road. The people who manage the lodge only care about money and never thought about the risk that they asked us to take to cross over the most disastrous road ever by using a van.

Our vehicle got stuck in the mountains and we did not have any option as we were afraid to drive since it was a matter of life and death. That is when few of the gods came to rescue us. One of them took over the driving and they start to push the vehicle since it was really hard to drive it on that dXXn road.

We were lucky enough to loose our spare wheel too due to the road conditions and our gods told us we have to walk three hours to get a vehicle as the only mobike in the estate is out and the three wheeler is broken.

One of them walked with two of our friends and two of them stayed with us for our safety.

Our friends came back after 6hrs. at 10.30pm with the fixed tyre. Guys who stayed with us put up a fire bcs it was cold. It was not easy surrounded by mountains and not knowing where we were......

Suppaiya (Raja) was the leader of the team and one of the greatest I have ever met in my life. You feel bad about their status of living.....with all that they did the maximum possible and ensured we do not get mobed or killed in that lonely place where police visit once a year....

I can write long....long and long.....

Will tell you one last thing my friends......if you want to justify LTTE, just go there and see how they live.....If we are not willing to solve there problems, then we will see another LTTE soon even if we defeat this one.....

GG, Wish you a great year ahead!!

Anud, you have to take a turn from Kalupahana, Balangoda-Badulla road. The water fall is around 4Kms from the main road. That road leads to Ohiya, around 30-35Kms. There are few tea estates along the way.

Don't drive unless the road is done properly or you have an off road vehicle.

we have to be thankful to those people helped you out... no one nowadays dare to help strangers... even if they help, they expect you to pay something....
