Malaka in another night club brawl
Saturday, 8 September 2007 - 4:27 AM SL Time

In another nightclub brawl non-cabinet Labour Minister Mervyn Silva`s son Malaka had on Thursday night allegedly attacked a Finance Director of a leading commercial institution.

The victim Chaminda Senasinghe`s brother, UNP Western Provincial Councilor Sujeewa Senasinghe told the Daily Mirror his brother had gone with a young German lady to a night club in Bambalapitiya for dinner when Malaka Silva and about ten others had allegedly assaulted him.

`The German lady was feeling down due to the tragic death of her boss` son and had gone to the night club with my brother. As they entered the club, Malaka had walked up to my brother and started hitting him.

My brother who returned to Sri Lanka after a long stay in the US is clueless about what happened to him. He is now being treated at a private hospital in Colombo with 13 stitches on his face.`

Meanwhile, Bambalapitiya Inspector Abeyratne Dissanayake said at around 11.30 pm on Thursday, Malaka had come to the police station to lodge a complaint that Chaminda Senasinghe had hit him on his face and he was suffering from a headache. Police had advised him to get himself admitted to hospital. The Inspector said at 1.30 am on Friday a person identifying himself as Chaminda Senasingha had come to the police station and lodged a complaint saying the Minister`s son and several others had assaulted him. Some months ago Malaka Silva was allegedly involved in another night club brawl. He was produced in court and discharged after being warned that he must behave in a better manner.

Police had advised him to get himself admitted to hospital.

This was the most interesting line in the article. Police officer who is supposed to arrest and produce a person before a judge based on the assault complain advises to get himself admitted.

How much did Malaka palm this guy?

UNP parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella said at a press briefing that the tax-free value of this brand is Rs. 21 million

L Kiriella seems to be conveniently forgetting the millions he pocketed in (under the table) when he was in Ranil's cabinet!

Pot calling kettle black!

Like father like son ...

They say in Sri Lanka if son doesn't do what his father did then he is 'Notti-ge-putha / Not-uge-putha' (Not his son) bit vulgar, couldn't help.

Who is the Son of James Bond who races on Colombo roads in a Rs. 42 million car

My only concern is why custom charged only Rs. 21 million for the Rs 21 million Car.

They should have charged twice or thrice that much which $@ million or 63 million.

By Taxing rich GOSL can earn highly needed Cash to spend for poor people.

Even in the developed countries at very high income Income taxes are also very high.
