Intl. Multi-religious head due today for peace bid

Director of the International Multi-Religious Affairs, Japan, Kyoichi Sugino is due to arrive in the country today. He is scheduled to meet with a host of Religious and Political Leaders during his stay in the country and participate in a Multi religious conference to promote peace in Sri Lanka, to be held at the BMICH next Thursday before appealing to the Government and the LTTE to return to the negotiating table .
The New York, based International Multi Religious Affairs Organisation is affiliated to the World conference for Religions for Peace and Director Sugino is to call on the Mahanayakes of the Asgiriya and the Malwatte Chapters on June,29th, Executive Director of the National Conference for religions For Peace Kingsley Rodrigo said yesterday.
The visiting leader is to meet with a host of Govermental and Political leaders on Wedesday the (27), including Minister of Constitutional Affairs DEW Gunasekera as the representative of the Government, Minister of
Science and Technology and Chairman of the All Party Representative Committee Prof, Tissa Vitharna, Tamil United Liberation Front Leader V. Ananda Sangari, Tamil National Alliance Leader R. Sampanthan, United National Party Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and the Minister for Environment from the Jathika Hela Urumaya Patali Champika Ranawaka,
The Organizing Committee comprises the National Peace Council Chaired by Dr. Jehan Perera and the National Conference For Religions For Peace Executive Director Kingsley Rodrigo who said yesterday that the conference will be held at the BMICH on Thursday the 28th of June from 2 to 5 pm with the participation of over 270 local religious leaders from Buddhist Clergy, Catholic and Christian Bishops, Muslim Moulavis and Hindu Kurukkals uniting to pray for peace in the country,
The organizers hope to invite a High-level delegation of Internationally recognized eminent religious leaders for the next conference scheduled to be held in the latter part of this year to promote permanent peace in Sri Lanka.
