With Tamil Tigers stepping up attacks, Sri Lanka has quietly alerted India that it will need to approach Pakistan and China for urgent arms purchases to counter the LTTE`s aerial threat.
But Colombo has asked Delhi for technical assistance to train radar operators and flight controllers manning the two Indira radars provided by India last year, besides an additional pair of radars to detect low-flying aircraft.
Sri Lankan Defence Secretary and President Mahinda Rajapakse`s brother Gotabaya Rajapakse, who met National Security Advisor M K Narayanan and all three Services chiefs during his recent visit, is believed to have conveyed that Colombo understood Delhi`s political compulsions which were preventing increase in military cooperation between the two countries.

Don't you thing it is a damn shame on Sinhalese. You have over 150,000 forces with air power, sea power and army. But you have to beg for help from other countries to fight LTTE who are less than 10,000 (I guess) but by GOVT. count of ltte'ers killed, should be less than 5,000.
Where it has gone wrong? Are the Tamils more brave than Sinhalese. Why don't JVP and JHU join the army without just shouting from safe houses. One would think think that Sinhalese are good in attacking innocent civilians as happened in 1983, and now army killing the innocent and not the real LTTE.

I think your misunderstanding the thread..SL will go to PAKISTAN and CHINA for urgent arms purchases not for men to fight the LTTE

..An IAF AN-32 medium-lift aircraft, in fact, made a ''secretive'' visit to Colombo to deliver ''some'' military supplies a few days ago.
