Former Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera will not rejoin the Cabinet, senior Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) member and Plantations Minister D.M. Jayaratne said yesterday.
He told The Island that the former Minister in London, might spend a longer vacation there.
Asked what made him say that Samaraweera will not join the Government, he said that knowing Mangalas`s nature and of course giving the portfolios Ports and Aviation held by him to President`s elder brother Minister Chamal Rajapakse, would have shattered his hopes of joining the Government.
Jayaratne said that though he was trying to iron out the problem between President Mahinda Rajapakse and former Ministers Samaraweera and Sripathy Sooriarchchi, the matter was in the hands of Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana.
