Two CID officers have been suspended for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 5 million to release three suspects believed to be involved in LTTE activities, a senior CID officer told the Daily Mirror yesterday.
He said the CID had made a complaint with the Bribery Commission regarding these officers. The CID itself is conducting a disciplinary inquiry and the inquiry team had recommended the two officers be suspended, the officer said.
A senior investigating officer attached to the Bribery Commission confirmed that the CID had made a complaint.
