The LSSP`s Politburo had resolved that the Mutual Services Pact signed last week by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse and U.S. Ambassador Robert Blake should be published, Mr. Batty Weerakoon, a member of the Politburo and one time representative of the party in the cabinet of President Chandrika Kumaratunga said yesterday.
``The country should know what exactly is in that agreement,`` he said.
The U.S. Embassy in Colombo described the agreement as ``logistical`` and providing a ``framework for interoperability.``
Titled ``The Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA),`` the embassy said it will allow the U.S. and Sri Lanka to transfer and exchange logistics supplies, support, and re-fueling services, either in kind or at cost, during peace keeping missions, humanitarian operations and joint exercises.
``The U.S. has ACSA agreements with 89 other countries around the world,`` the embassy said in a news release.
