    [We are still UNPers.]

    Who says no?

[We have never left the party. What we are doing is to convince the government to reactivate the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) which is dormant]

What a noble motive. Only irisiyaakaarayaas say that you jumped for ministerial posts.

To be frank, overall I am happy that these guys joined the government. Yes, they have made fools of themselves but it has done lots of good for the country.

These are the obvious advantage of the crossing.

    (a) Sinhalese racist forces (mainly JVP) can no more control the govt. I am happy that JVP tail cqn no more wag the UPFA dog.

    (b) Instead of the pure Sinhalese only cabinet now we have a more balanced one, though not perfect. Muslims and upcountry Tamils are represented in the cabinet adequately

    (c) Instead of moving the country towards a controlled close economy now these guys (Milinda, GL, Bandula etc) will make sure the Open economic policies will be followed

    (d) Less chances of govt. becoming a so called Sinhalese Buddhist Taliban regime.

Finally (e) Now there is at least some people within the cabinet who will oppose the extreme forces moving the country towards war. It might be too much to expect this govt will implement a solution for ethnic problem, but at least now the chances of a major war taking place will be nil. (whatever Gotabhaya says)

One has to take note of what Dayaratne and Lokuge say. If they joined MR to get the CFA revived/implemented, it is good. UNP is in the opposition and it cannot implement it. Whoever implment it does a great service to the nation and the country rather than waging useless and senseless wars. MR had better comes to terms with reality sooner than later. Because, with each passing minute, the country goes down the bottomless pit.

Those UNPers who crossed over could have done better if they had made it a condition (ceasation of all operations and starting talks with LTTE) for joining MR and co.

However, UNPers should be happy now because it is a UNP gove in place now. This is very interesting, UNPers running both the opposition and the govrt. This has not happend elsewhere.

[For your information: I am a sinhala buddhist and I am Govigama. I come from a very respectable family in the country. I edcuated myself at Royal. We are in fact from a royal blood line unlike CBK line who was from south india. But I am open minded. I am a down to earth person though I can be hooting from rooftop like Anura. Compared my blood line, Anura is nobody.]

    Hello Polonnaruwa Royalist.

[- we are very much with the UNP. We haven`t abandoned it. We will engage in rebuilding the party while being in the government benches,

`- We have never left the party. What we are doing is to convince the government to reactivate the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) which is dormant.]

I hope they will tell the same thingy when MR return from China.
