As ex-Minister Mangala Samaraweera is to hold the much hyped news conference today, arrangements have been made for a meeting today between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and ex- Ports Development Minister Sripathi Sooriyarachchi, sources close to President told Daily Mirror last evening.
It is reliably learnt that the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya Chief Incumbent, Kollupitiye Sangarakitha Thera had intervened in the matter and made a request to the President to reach an amicable settlement with Mr. Sooriyarachchi.
The Venerable Thera had spoken to President Rajapaksa last morning and the President had agreed for a meeting today with Mr. Sooriyaarachchi at 4 pm at Temple Trees. Meanwhile Mr. Samaraweera who sent a five- page letter to President Mahinda Rajapaksa laying down ten conditions to rejoin Cabinet, is to hold the crucial news conference at the Galle Face Hotel at 10 am today.
Plantation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne who is scheduled to call on Messrs Samaraweera and Sooriyarachchi today is to meet President Rajapaksa tomorrow to brief him on the concerns and grievances of the two former ministers.
