In the wake of the heavy defeat to the LTTE terrorism in the North-East Sector LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran is to run away from Sri Lanka, Foreign Employment Promotion and welfare Minister, National Security spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said when he called on the Mahanayake Theros of Malwatte and Asgiriya yesterday (08).
According to information prabhakaran is to leave for South Africa, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told the most Venerable Tibbatuwawe Sri Siddharatha Sumangala Mahanayake Thero of Malwatte.
Prabhakaran will have refuge or even welcome in South Africa since South African countries supported the international LTTE terrorism, Minister Rambukwella said further.
Prabhakaran finds it hard to face the heavy defeat suffered by his cadres and his strongholds in the North-East falling into the National Security forces. As such the LTTE leader has no alternative then leaving the country, Minister Rambukwella noted.
The LTTE cadres are fleeing leaving behind the camps and bunkers and costly sophisticated modern weapons are left behind, Rambukwella told the prelates Sri Siddhartha Sumangala and Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Mahanayake Theros of Malwatte and Asgiriya respectively.
LTTE cadres are moving rapidly for safety in Toppigala sector and the innocent Tamils are in numbers arriving in the areas controlled by the government forces, the minister said.
Prabhakaran says that his defeat is just a temporary withdrawal as a war-tactics. If that is so Prabhakaran should apply same to Mullaitiu and Kilinochchi, Rambukwella claimed.
Ordinary Tamil villagers getting release from the claws of the LTTE following government`s security operations are expressing their gratitude to the security forces, he said.
The infrastructure facilities and electricity are now being provided to the villages freed from the LTTE by the government on the directions of President Mahinda Rajapakse, the Minister added.
The Mahanayake Theros expressing the appreciation of the success of the national security forces engaged in cleansing the north-east from the LTTE terrorism said that all political groups should join hands to redevelop and atmosphere in which all communities could live in peace and happiness in the country.
The minister paid his homage to the sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
He was welcomed by the Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara.
