The 2007 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination commenced in the Jaffna peninsula yesterday at 174 centers across with the assistance of the Security Forces.
Military sources said that security and normalcy have been ensured by the Army, Navy and the Police thereby creating a conducive environment for students to take the examination without any disturbance.
Prior to the commencement of the examination, Zonal Directors of Education met with the Army, Navy and Police officials in Jaffna to discuss security and other transportation plans. On a request by zonal education authorities, the Police provided security during transportation of question and answer papers while the Army provided protection to examination centers.
The Air Force airlifted question papers from Colombo to Jaffna on 5th December.
