Labour Relations and Man Power Minister Athauda Seneviratne had apprised a group of Sri Lankan Tamils domiciled in Frankfurt, of the government`s stand on the ethnic conflict. The Minister met the Tamil group at Hotel Ramadah in Frankfurt recently.
Explaining the reasons for intensifying attacks on the LTTE, Seneviratne said the Tigers were not interested in negotiations. During the last 25 years it had assassinated top politicians, members of the clergy and members of the public in addition to massive destruction of valuable property.
He said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa hates to handover a war torn nation to the future generation and is keen to see an end to the decades-long conflict.
If the LTTE fails to heed the Government`s call and continue their violence the Government will not hesitate to redouble their effort counter the LTTE threats.
Sri Lanka`s Consul General to Germany Buddhi Keerthi was associated with the Minister at the meeting.
